Paper Moon (1973)
Comedy | Drama
Ryan O'Neal teams up with his daughter Tatum in this very bright, very warm and very funny period film for which Tatum won an Oscar in her first film role. Ryan O'Neal plays the smooth-talking con man Moses Pray, driving through depression-era Kansas with
a carload of deluxe bibles, a gold tooth behind a convincing smile, and a list of newly widowed prospects for his line. Addie (Tatum O'Neal) is a cigarette-smoking, nine-year-old orphan who hooks up with Moses and manages to show the master con man a
trick or two. Madeline Kahn gives a funny, neurotic performance as Trixie Delight, who goes along for the ride until Addie determines that Trixie might come between Addie and Moses - which, obviously, cannot happen.

film...more entertaining than 'The Last Picture Show'. It was ingenious to cast the real-life, father-daughter acting team of Ryan & Tatum O'Neal in this picture. I believe Tatum was 9-years-old when she won the oscar for this one. It was very well
deserved. She carries the film through all its complex comedic and dramatic moments. The late, great Madeline Kahn is also very funny in a small role. Most people today won't give this film a chance, because it's Black and White. I think they mistakenly
feel that it's a film from the 30s or 40s. It's in B&W and set in the 30s, but it is most definitely a product of the modern age of Hollywood (post 1970). I'm sure that anyone who watches it from beginning to end will get a kick out of it
Summary: Sweet & Hilarious! A Classic!
