Tagline: Never Give a Saga an Even Break!

The railroad's bound to run right through the sleepy town of Rock Ridge. Land there will be worth a fortune- but the townfolk already own their own land. How do you drive them out? Send in the roughest, toughest, meanest, leanest gang you've got...and appoint a new sheriff you figure will last about 24 hours. However, logic is lost in a blizzard of gags, jokes, and outrageous asssaults upon good taste- or any at all.

User Comment: alexcain Georgia, USA • Having seen this film numerous times, and as one who owns a copy of the film on video, I have to say that this film was definitely ahead of its time. Brooks himself has said that if this film had been made in any other period of American culture, that they would not have been able to make it, or been lucky to get approval from the studio for it.

Mel Brooks was at the height of his creativity with this one, and it shows. You couldn't even beg to get this film made in today's world, and you'd be hard pressed to get it done in the days of yesteryear. It's a wonder it even got off the studio lot --- which it does, literally, in the film.

This film wasn't made for children, and it was barely made for adults. But if you are looking for a good laugh, then watch this movie. Many people will be offended who watch this film, but it was made entirely with that idea in mind. A definite classic, and Kahn's performance is truly worthy of the Oscar nomination which was given to her.

Summary: There will never be another one like it.
