Experience the Miniature Dark Ride here with the last video taken of
The Vault of the Forgotten Souls before the ride was disassembled.

My reason for discontinuing the Miniature Dark Ride:
My original goal was to allow one web user at time to be able stop the movement of the camera (so no bumping into the set) but to still be able to control the pan and tilt movement to allow the used to look all around. That was the reason that I used a web camera. But the only way to get a live feed and web control of the camera at the same time required the user to install special conferencing software which I didn’t want and would never require of my intended audience. So I disassembled the hardware and removed all but the last video until such time as my original goal is feasible.

My Miniature Dark Ride Synopsis:
Take a "Dark Ride" through the Vault of the Forgotten Souls. Remember this is a simulated dark ride so at times it will jerk you around or spin so fast that everything you see will only be a blur but that is all part of the excitement of a dark ride. It does however paused at points of interest just long enough for you to get a better look. It progresses from the Forgotten Souls into the Criminally Insane, then on to Monsters. And what will later only be available as a bonus area, some of the Great Dragons. Although it is called a "Dark Ride" it is not dark at all. So just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Staring:
McFarlane and other figures, Visual Servo Automation, Custom Visual FoxPro Program.

Technical Details:
Custom built 5' x 8' X-Y overhead camera "Gantry Crane" type of carrier system with 5 degrees of freedom. 1) Move-Forward-Backward, 2) Move-Left-Right 3)Move-Up-Down plus camera 4) Pan-Look-Left-Right and 5)Tilt-Look-Up-Down. All movement is powered by inexpensive Radio/Control servos. A Lynx-SSC-32 serial servo controller (SSC) is used to control the servos from one serial port. Visual Servo Automation (VSA), a commercial program, is fist used to choreograph each scene. Each scene's data is then exported from VSA into a file and that file used as input into a custom written Visual FoxPro program which can add the background music as well as the foreground sound effects to each scene. The FoxPro program can also seamlessly play the scenes in sequence for a complete production.
